About

I’m Brandon — I design for the details, and build what I can’t find.

I'm a product designer who obsesses over the details most people only notice when they're wrong — the focus state that lands exactly where your thumb expects, the empty screen that teaches instead of apologises, the copy that says precisely what will happen. That's where the difference between a good product and the best one actually lives.

Today I'm the owner and product designer of Playfyn, a universal media client for Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad that I design, build, and ship end to end. Before that I spent two years as a Product Designer at PrismHR, working across onboarding and talent management in a large enterprise HR platform and helping keep a shared design system consistent across distributed teams.

Away from the screen, I'm usually deep in a self-hosting or homelab project — the itch that started Playfyn in the first place — cooking, reading nonfiction and manga, gaming, or working through more films and anime than I probably should.

How I work

Iterate, consistently

Good products are built one loop at a time, not in a single leap. I reproduce a problem, understand why it happens, change one thing, and verify it — then do it again, over and over, until the rough edge is gone. Most of the quality lives in showing up for that loop.

Prototype to decide, not to impress

I build the rough thing early so we argue about the real experience instead of a pretty static frame. Decisions get cheaper the sooner they're testable.

Respect the person on the other side

No dark patterns, no manufactured urgency. Clear states, honest defaults, and an exit that's as obvious as the entrance.

Finish the last ten percent

Empty states, error copy, focus order, reduced-motion. The unglamorous details are what separate a demo from a product.
